Amanda was interviewed by her son about the upcoming launch of Wild Rescues for Bainbridge Community Broadcasting.
One night near Halloween in the pouring rain, Amanda participated in the Westsound WIldlife Shelter's Spooky Walk event. Kids and their families walk down a candle-lit forest path and get to meet wild animal ambassadors from the shelter. Amanda read some of her stories from Wild Rescues: Amazing Stories from a Wildlife Shelter.
Amanda is a passionate wildlife rescuer and travels the world volunteering to help animals. She is the author of Looking Twice: Beautiful/Ugly, a book of themed poems and photographs, and “The Diplomat’s Daughter,” a story anthologized in Secret Histories: Stories of Courage, Risk, and Revelation. Her short story,“The Remover of Obstacles,” won the 2013 Traveller’s Tales Gold Solas Award for best love story. This is Amanda’s first book for middle readers. She has four children of her own and lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband, their dog Luigi, and a pond fish.
